On this page I am going to post actual emails that I have received from my customers. I will post them without editing them, but may delete comments unrelated to receipt or performance of their new knife from
Andersen Forge.

You have a way of keeping things so simple that the materials speak for themselves.  The end result is a thing of beauty.  Brute beauty perhaps, but beauty all the same.  Maybe it's just me.  I find the purity of your knives to be really appealing.  You don't try to impress with adornments.  You just let the pure knife speak for itself.  And they do so eloquently.  I really admire your work.  Your knives are more pure knife than anyone I can think of.  While they are sitting still, I can see them cutting.  I can't explain it, it's just the way it is.

Keep doing what you're doing.  Please.

Admirer of your work,

R.B.

Wow! Such a beautiful knife from the beginning billet of steel. I am so glad you had previously sent me the pictures of the knife at various stages in its production. Only a true craftsman could do that.  Karl you have been a gentleman, and even more importantly, a man of your word. A combination not often found in today's world. Look forward to hearing from you.
S.E.

Dear Karl,

I received delivery of the Survivor Knife on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

This is a great knife.  Every time I get one of your knives I think that it cannot get any better.  You have outdone yourself once again.  The Handle is superb.  I really like the length, shape and the underneath flat part.  The handle allows you to work the long blade in any cutting, stabbing, twisting (the handle gives you enough traction when twisting without hurting your hand), chopping or fine cutting detail (even in reverse grip).  The balance of the blade seems to move depending on the type of grip you use which gives you sure handed control.  When I change my grip on the handle the blade seems to know the proper balance point to give you the maximum blade weight for the type of cutting job.

I cannot say enough about the blade and the fine, just visible hamon on the blade.  It is really strange as this is a large blade, however, depending on how I used the knife the blade seems to be the right size for the job.  Neither too small or too large, just right.  The blade never got in the way.

You have matched the texture in the wrought iron guard with the texture of the Hamon.  Extremely fine.

Not to mention the outstanding take down feature of the knife.

One more thing about the handle material.  You left enough grain texture in the fine grain of the black wood to enable a sure grip when needed, however, the grip is smooth in the hand when needed.

All of the features of this knife reduces hand and arm fatigue.

To top it off the leather knife sheath is that of a master leather crafter quality.  Great design for wearing tucked between my belt and pants.  The following may be funny but true.  When I carry the knife in this fashion my pants are not falling down and I am not having to keep pulling up on my pants.

Thank you seems to little of a phrase to show my appreciation for this fine knife.

Respectfully,
J. W. C.

Hi Karl:
I received the fighter today and I couldn't be more pleased. It is even more sturdy than I expected and the workmanship is of the highest quality. The sheath is great and the post office people were very impressed with the packing box. They said they wished every package was that well made. The hot blued fittings really give the fighter a different look and the hamon is spectacular. I can't thank you enough for your kindness and hope to have another knife from you in the future at your convenience.
                   With admiration and respect,
                                  Larry B****.

Hi Karl,
Awsome news!!! I got my work of art today! Thank you so much! This is more than I expected by far, and I did say "Holy S***" when I saw it!! You are a perfectionist, in every aspect! From the wooden box it was shipped in to the amazing sheath and finally a beautiful knife that tells a story of a Gifted Art Form!!
"You're The Best"

Thank you once again,

Karl,
It's here and it's absolutely incredible---your handles always fit me, but damned if you don't seem to manage it in a completely different way each time.  :)  The whole package looks great, as always, knife and sheath.  There's a few of you---yourself, Dmitry Malakhov, Kevin Cashen (and others) who are the bane of the existence of the would-be knife maker in me.  Occasionally, I'll get it into my head that I want to begin, and then I pick up a piece like this and am just like, "Yeah, right..."  ;-) Oh well, if I can't turn 'em out I can sure as hell enjoy the work of those who can!
Thanks as always for all the hard work that obviously went into it.  I promise I won't neglect it.

Sorry, I didn't write sooner, but I decided to take the weekend off and go camping! The knife looks amazing, well, a little dirty right know, but still great. I used it for everything from cutting veggies to splitting kindling and everything in between. It's still as sharp as the day I got it. You were right, there is a LOT more figure in the wood when you see it in person. A very solid, well built knife. The handle is a little longer than I really like, but I felt I could do anything I wanted to with this knife. No hesitation at all. I look forward to using this knife for years to come. All my thanks, Phill.

Karl,

First off… That is an amazing packaging job!!!!!  I decided to open it from the bottom… Not only screwed, but glued, too… Insane - this is the finest shipping container I've gotten to date!

But… What was inside totally exceeded my expectations! I thought it was going to look good in light of your pics… But it is beyond any simple visual presentation - The proportions are spot on, the handle FITS!, the blade shape and style is smack in the middle of my prefered style, the balance totally belies the heft one feels in the handle (It has a feeling that it should be butt heavy - but it's not!)… And the craftsmanship evident in the whole thing is unbelievable!!!! Yes, I even took it apart… in front of my boss - she totally loves it! And then I shaved my arm with it - her eyes just got BIG!!!

And then there's the sheath - Sir, you do outstanding work! And it's a perfect accompanying shade to the wood in the handle…

Hah! I'm trying to write this and I just got your email!  Yup, already broke it down, looked at everything, even got the guard back on right!

Karl, I'm going to want another one from you, similar to this, but a little longer with a full on Hamon - only, I'm going to want it when you get your MS stamp on it!!!!!

My thinks, Sir; this shall hold a very honored place in my collection!

Thank you again!

Joe

Karl,
I just thought I would let you know that I used your knife all season long (processed 5 deer from the field to the freezer) before I touched it up.On my elk hunt I did not get an elk, I had several come to us, but just could not seem to close the deal.It was my first guided bow hunt so I was still having fun.Anyway I just thought I would let you know that I am very happy about the way your knife performed.
Happy Holidays and a Great New Year,
G. W. D.

Karl, it's here, and I do have to say it...I know how to pick 'em.  ;)  Excellent work throughout, of course, but you're right in that this one just has a certain feel to it.  I think the sheath is fantastic, and I very much like it when the handle/guard/etc. is protected from the retention snap like that.  That's also an impressive temper line you've achieved!  I know 5160 often doesn't like to show its colors like that.  For the most part I've just been carrying it around this evening and admiring it, and using it to remove a hair here and there on my arm from time to time when they're silly enough to stand out and be noticed.

I really like your new four-post disassembly tool, also---just has a "finished" look to the end of the pommel.

Anyway, I'm glad I got to it before it went to the show, as I have a feeling it might not have come back with you otherwise.
Thanks very much and have a great one,
Warren

My dearest knifemaker,

WOOHOO!!! Hi Karl. I just now opened the box with my knife. I'm in total awe of your talent! What a knife! I just can't take my eyes off of it. You have delivered the nicest custom knife I have ever received. Thank God for powered screwdrivers!
I can't wait to show it off this weekend. Everything is perfect.
Knife, sheath, case, you name it. I will treasure this the rest of my life.

Let me know when you start on the EDC. If you need money up front, no problem.

Best regards,
W. H.
