The "Gunflint Bowie" Project
The "Gunflint Bowie" Project has been a long-enduring dream of mine - to create a special knife with the "Andersen Forge Signature" style of appearance and assembly, for extreme outdoor use.
Being an avid outdoorsman and soft-core adventurist, it has been my desire to create an all-around blade suited for a trip to the outback, offering the owner manueverability through many fields of demands.
I finally came up with a moderate blade length, and strong profile for the blade, comfortable handle ergonomics, and just general sensability of use.
It is my plan to continue to create this blade in a serial numbered sequence as long as it continues to inspire me. This first of the series - the series prototype - was forged from 1984 1" square 5160 and made in a take-down assembly with stainless fittings and an instrument grade African Blackwood handle.
This knife was sold before it even hit the "market" place.
Continuing pieces can/will be made with varying steel types of 5160/W1/W2/1095/Damascus of varying patterns, as well as varying types of exotic natural and stabilized handle materials, as well as man-made materials.
In the months to come, additional pieces will become available to the public as my production allows.
Special orders are always welcomed.
