Quillon Dagger

(I normally only showcase one knife on this page, but I just couldn't bring myself to remove the Turkist Twist Bowie quite yet.
I'm going to let it stay here for a while.)
That said, here is a Quillon Dagger. (Pronounced Key-own. It's French, you see.)
This was a significant step in knife making for me. I really didn't want my virgin attempt at this creation to be simply an attempt. I wanted it to be very nice and a success.
With that in mind, I took an extraordinarily long time to get it done, yet the customer was as patient as I could ever expect one to be.
I forged the blade on this Dagger from 324 layers of hammer-laddered hot-blued Damascus.
The fluted handle is stabilized Bubinga and inlayed with double twisted sterling silver wire.
The take-down fittings are deeply etched 1903 wrought iron.
Thanks for your time.

Damascus Bowie

Holy mackeral, Andy!
Yep - she's a beauty, and I know of no one more pleased than myself.
This is, in fact, my first multi-bar Turkish Twist blade - and a BIG! one, at that.
I have to give my good friend, Jerry Rados, recognition for the inspiration and moral support.
The stabilized California walnut on this beauty was far more than I had bargained for - it just really matches the overall theme of the knife more than I had any idea it would. Just a spectacular chunk of walnut.
I hot-blued both the blade and the mild steel guard and built the entire package in a take-down style. (If you want to pat me on the back next time you see me - I'll accept it. )
